CLIMATE COMEDY OF ERRORS

We love to find humor in everything!
For that reason, we fell in love with the concept of Memes: The mix of humor and truth that are typically responsible for a disturbing chuckle.

Presenting to you, 'The Climate Comedy of Errors' challenge. 5 years of Shakespeare got the better of us! For all you memers out there, the stage is yours!

A monochrome film put together for the purpose of Earth day! Our intention behind this was to create awareness of the ignorant nature and ideologies of humans which, in turn, results in severe environmental degradation. Through its theatrical script and puns, this project aimed to encourage people to start taking up actions that work to preserve the environment and be mindful of their doings. Covid-19 didn’t stop our activism, but directed us to think creatively, futuristically, and consciously, for the benefit of the people and the planet!

THE ULTIMATUM

HEALTH HEROS

Quarantine times made us feel small: For not being able to give back to the community. However, we did not let the itch bother us any longer and we decided to take up a project to ‘Honor our Health Heroes’! Our objective was to recognize these Heroes and their families through making small video to cheer up our Health Heroes as they combat this virus. That was our way of saying, THANK YOU!

CLIMATE CHANGE CONFERENCE 2020

1st February was when Climate Change Conference 2020 was held -  the first-ever environmental-based event, raised the bar EXTREMELY high for upcoming events like these. Why? Because it created an opportunity for young minds to spark meaningful conversations of a variety of issues and controversies surrounding climate change through the means of 3 interesting approaches - debate, pitch presentations, and panel discussions. The funds collected were given to the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) to aid them in their work concerning climate change.

CONSCIOUS FESTIVAL

November 2019, was when we volunteered for the 5th Edition  ‘Conscious Festival’ by ‘Green is the New Black’. We were ‘Festival Laison Managers’, welcoming guests, selling recycled t-shirts, and using glitter to paint people’s faces were some of the things we did! Apart from volunteering, we also made an art installation for the festival, that depicted the effects of climate change on insects.

On September 21st, Singapore held it’s first-ever Climate Rally at Hong Lim Park organized by the youth of the Singapore Climate Rally, a non- profit organization. The rally was inspired by the Sweedish teen Greta Thunberg. This was a very inspiring experience and it gave us a better insight into what the future of the climate crisis in Singapore would look like.

CLIMATE CHANGE RALLY 2019

CARNIVAL

Last Carnival, we came up with the idea of switching out the plastic cutlery used in the food stalls. I would be lying if I said it was an easy process! But it wasn't that bad either. The good part was: mostly everyone, including the teachers, were on our team. And the bad part was that: reality and practicalities weren't. Amidst that, we tried!

Under our teachers’ guidance, we collated the number and type of each cutlery required, categorized each of the food items, found the cheapest eco-friendly replacement from ethical brands in both SG and India, and even made a pitch presentation.

COMPOSTING

18th September, was when we started doing composting in school! It was a really fun process and we managed to get a lot done out of it! Composting is a form of waste disposal where organic waste decomposes naturally under oxygen-rich conditions. It's an ongoing process and although it was slow, it has really worked out well. So much so, that we managed to even use it for our biology project: making a mesocosm.
